Jungle Cat World
Jungle Cat World is a wildlife park located on 15 picturesque acres in the http://www.municipality.clarington.on.ca/\" target=\"main\">Municipality of Clarington in historical Orono, just 45 minutes east of Toronto. Established in 1983 it was first accredited in 1989 by the http://www.caza.ca/\" target=\"main\">Canadian Association of Zoos and Aquariums (CAZA ), a non-profit organization established to promote the welfare of and encourage the advancement and improvement of zoology, recreation, education, conservation and science. Each accredited institution is approved by the CAZA Board and fulfills the CAZA Code of Professional Ethics. Certification is granted once a thorough inspection is made of the facility examining all facets of the institution, such as animal health, public safety and conservation/education programs.
Jungle Cat World is recognized for its successful breeding programs and participation with various international Species Survival Plans (SSP) and Population Management Plans (PMP). Currently it's working extensively with the critically endangered Amur leopard, native to the Russian Far East. Once mature the Amur leopards are transferred to other conservation parks and become participants in the captive management program.
Jungle Cat World is listed with the Canadian Wildlife Service, part of http://www.cws-scf.ec.gc.ca/\" target=\"main\">Environment Canada, to assist them in the enforcement of the Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). It also offers refuge to animals that have been confiscated by the Canadian government due to illegal ownership and practices.
Though Jungle Cat World is home to a variety of threatened and endangered species such as lemurs, gibbons, cotton-top tamarins and spider monkeys, the park specializes in wild felines. They include the world's largest, the Siberian tiger, to the rarest, the Amur leopard, to some of the smallest like the sand cats from the African deserts.

My family and I went to Jungle Cat World this past weekend. (I have a 7 year old daughter and a 19 month old son). The owners and staff are friendly and helpful. The animals are amazing. We arrived in time for the feeding tour @ 1:30 and watched as the big cats (which include lions and siberian tigers) were fed.

We spent the night in their breathtaking Safari Lodge and spent the evening leisurely walking through the zoo and feed the goats, ducks and deer that are also wandering around the park.

We went back to the lodge for the night and stood on the balcony to and howled with the wolves.

We also took advantage of their photo op package and had family pictures taken with a baby cougar, baby foxes, lemurs, and a mountain lion. We also got to hold snakes and scorpions (at least my husband and daughter did anyway - lol).

All in all it was a wonderful experience and we left the zoo feeling relaxed and happy. A truely exotic escape right here in Ontario!
